From Learner to Media Pro — Somcourse Success Story

One such story is that of Ahmed Hussein, who enrolled in our Graphic Design and Video Editing Course in 2023. Just a year later, he is now working as a professional video editor at Nasiye, one of Somalia’s emerging media and production platforms.

When Ahmed joined Somcourse, he was passionate about visual creativity but lacked access to structured, skill-based training. With guidance from Somcourse’s expert instructors , Ahmed quickly mastered:

• Video Editing with software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Audation
• Graphic Design tools like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
•  Design fundamentals: layout, typography, branding
•  Video storytelling: transitions, effects, sound, and pacing

Ahmed’s passion and talent didn’t go unnoticed. In early 2024, he was offered a position as a professional video editor at Nasiye, where he now produces high-quality video content for digital media, social campaigns, and branded storytelling.

He is responsible for:

• Editing social media videos, interviews, and promos
• Enhancing visual content through color grading, motion graphics, and sound design
• Collaborating with creative teams to tell meaningful stories through video
